Bio and Author Visits

Author Bio
Carolee Dean is a board certified speech-language pathologist. In addition, she is a young adult author and has taught summer creative writing programs to students and adults. Dean has made numerous appearances as a guest poet/author at schools, libraries, and poetry events. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and a master's degree in communicative disorders. She has spent over a decade working in the public schools and has also worked with teens in a psychiatric hospital and a head trauma rehabilitation unit. Dean has provided numerous trainings at state and national conferences for therapists, teachers, librarians, and educational assistants. Dean currently serves as the Vice President of the Southwest Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. A full vita is available upon request.

Author Visit and Professional Development Options:

Author/Poet visit: Fifty minute poetry readings and discussion of the writing process.

The Secret Language of Stories: Discussion and power point presentation of Dean’s twelve step story analysis procedure. Available for both students and as a teacher workshop. May be completed in one hour or expanded to a three hour workshop for teachers. (Find More Details Here)

Inspiring the Reluctant Writer: Two hour teacher workshop. May be combined with The Secret language of Stories for a full day workshop.
